Loft, sweep and coil

Additional functions for creating parts are Loft, Sweep and Coil.

Loft creates a part with a variable area.

Open “Application Options”. Mark off “Sketch on XY plane” in tab “Part”. Click “Apply” and “Close”.

Start a new part. The sketch on the XY plane has already been created.

Draw a circle centered on the origin with a diameter of 40 mm. Finish sketch. Create an auxiliary element – a plane parallel to the XY plane and 30 mm apart from it.

Click “Plane” and choose “Offset from Plane” in the dropdown menu:

Choose the XY plane as a ground plane and insert offset value equal to 30 mm.

Start 2D sketch in this plane. Draw a square. Click “Rectangle” and set equality to its adjacent sides.

Using vertical and horizontal constrain, center the square on the origin:

Edit 25 mm face size. Finish sketch.

Create another plane 60 mm apart from XY plane. Start 2D sketch in this plane. Draw another circle centered on the origin with a diameter of 30 mm. Finish sketch.

Create the third plane 80 mm apart from the XY plane. One may edit the distance using Pen:

Edit 80 mm precise value.

Start 2D sketch in this plane. Draw a polygon with 6 faces. Using vertical constrain, plane it and edit 25 mm width across flats. Finish sketch.

The sketches will be sections for Loft.

Click Loft and point the sketches by turn:

Click OK and get the figure with faired interception between sections:

The work planes may become invisible. Right click the name of a work plane in the browser and mark off “Visibility”.

Name this part “Loft”, save and close.

Sweep usually helps to create bent parts.

Start a new part. Click “Line” and create a line 50 mm in length. Without finishing “Line”, mouse the end of the line until a gray point appears. Hold the left mouse button and draw the cursor aside, and then an arc is being created. Draw the cursor to approximately 180°.

Create another 90° arc the same way:

Extend the sketch with lines. Tangents correlations to each other and to adjacent lines have been already applied to the arcs.

Edit 12 mm radius of the first arc, 10 mm for the second, and the line length is 10 mm.

Apply horizontal constrain for the start and the end of the first arc. Now the arc forms 180° angle. Finish sketch. All the lines have been formed.

Start another 2D sketch in the plane perpendicular to the initial line. This will be the XZ plane.

It has the same origin with the first line. Draw a circle 8 mm in diameter.

Finish sketch.

Click Sweep. The closed-loop circle is automatically chosen as the profile.

Set the first sketch as the path:

Click OK.

Thus, one can get bent parts of various profiles in any paths. Name the part “Bracket”.

Save it and close.

Using Coil, one can create coils.

Start a new part. Draw a vertical line with a random length. For example, 10 mm. Apply center line attributes to this line.

Draw a circle with 5 mm in diameter. Set the correlation of the central horizontal position of the circle with the origin. Set the size from the circle’s center to the axe. Draw 50 mm. It will be the coil diameter.

Finish sketch.

Click “Coil”. Choose the circle as the sketch and the line as the axe. One may also choose the coil’s direction of rotation in this tab.

In tab “Coil Size” choose the type, for example “Pitch and Revolution”. Edit pitch equal to 10 mm, Revolution is 5.

In Tab “Coil Ends” one may edit flat and transition angles at the start and the end. Edit 90° for each angle.

Click OK. There is a coil of master data.

Name this part “Coil”. Save it and close.
